About Advantage Communities

Jon Fisher
Community Consultant
Jon has worked with communities his whole career, most recently having been Head of Communities for Sovereign Housing Association where he had responsibility for community development programmes and employability initiatives across the South West.
He started as a patch-based Community Development Worker for a small charity in Kent and moved on to be a community investment manager in South London. Jon’s first Head of Service role followed at a South West London Housing Association, before he moved to Sovereign in 2013. He has a breadth of experience working with people, communities, resident groups and partner agencies.
Jon was a founder member of the Centre of Excellence in Community Investment and until October 2019 was Chair of a national membership body for social landlords who support people in to work. Jon led its transformation from ‘Give us a Chance’ in to ‘Communities that Work’.
Jon is a Town Councillor where he lives in Calne, North Wiltshire and in December 2019 was a parliamentary candidate, an experience he describes as once in a lifetime, and a hugely positive thing to have done. Jon is married to Tara, and they have five children aged from 11 – 22.
Jon also runs a small business building and selling micro campers. Originally from Yorkshire, Jon is a football fan and has an MA in Community Development.
My Philosophy... Engage, Enable
Advantage Communities is not just a consultant, but a tool for you to use to shape and build your offer – with a proven ability to transform creative ideas in to outcomes. My philosophy is consultancy for a purpose – we move your offer up! Don’t choose any consultant – choose one who’s action orientated. We’ll help you improve because we focus on the actions needed, not reports that sit on shelves.
Resident and community focused, I’ll tell you how it is, not what you might want to hear. If you need help with your operations, strategy, staffing, volunteers or business change – my role is to help you through that, and to make sure you to deliver your charity or community purpose better as a result.
